Smart View Office Plug In Installation and Verification

In my previous blog I have explained the installation and configuration process for the Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Office Plug In. The BI Office Plug is has its own limitations and I believe it is not the efficient way to integrate and access BI solution via MS Office.

This blog I would like to write about Oracle’s another option for Office integration; the most advanced one Oracle Hyperion Smart View. Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office (Smart View) is a component of Hyperion Foundation Services. Smart View provides a common Microsoft Office interface designed specifically for Oracle's Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Business Intelligence (BI). Using Smart View, you can view, import, manipulate, distribute and share data in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint interfaces. It is a comprehensive tool for accessing and integrating EPM and BI content from Microsoft Office products.

Smart View Capabilities

·      Ability to integrate EPM & BI data directly from the data source into Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook

·      Full ad-hoc and free form analysis capabilities for Hyperion Financial Management, Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Planning and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition

·      Data access from Relational or Multi-Dimensional sources

·      An alternative, Office-based interface for leveraging Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Financial Management, and Hyperion Workforce Planning data entry forms

·      Ability to create data perspectives for end users called Smart Slices, execute reporting jobs from within Office applications, dynamically refresh data across office documents with a single click, 

·      Ability to perform selective, multi-page import of documents residing in a Workspace repository into Office documents, including reports created in Financial Reporting, Interactive Reporting, SQR and Web Analysis.

·      Report Creation in Excel, Word and Power Point using EPM and BI data also supports the highly formatted grids in Microsoft Excel

·      VBA toolkit  for developing custom Office-based analytic interfaces

Download Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.1.0 for Microsoft Windows by using following URL

Accept OTN License the Agreement, down load file to your local machine

Installation 

Unzip the Smart View Installable File, and then click on SmartView.exe to install the Smart View

Destination Folder

Install - Ready to install program, click on 'install'

Finish - Installation Finish

Verification

Note: - Smart View 11.1.2 uses provider Services for connecting to Essbase, Planning, and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. Provider Services needs to be installed before connecting to data sources for all product sets mentioned above Financial Management, Reporting & Analysis and Enterprise providers are bundled with corresponding products.
